   In telephony, a local loop is the wired connection from a telephone company’s central office in a locality to its customer’s telephones at homes and businesses.

    Fiber-optic lines are strands of optically pure glass as thin as human hairs that carry digital information over long distances. They are also used in medical imaging and mechanical engineering inspection.
